You may already be familiar with the latin phrase ‘Memento mori’, which translates to “remember you must die”. But what does Memento Vivere mean? “Memento Vivere translates to “Remember to live”, and in contrast to the former phrase, this one serves to remind us to not dwell on the fleeting nature of life and to instead embrace and live our days to the fullest we can.
Along with the latin phrase, an engraved snake is depicted un-coiling itself alongside glistening stars. Snake iconography has been used in vintage jewellery since the dawn of time, and depending on which era you look at, can resemble renewal, fertility and protection.
